Customs Enforcement at the Panama Costa-Rica border of Paso Canoas reports product seizures to Newsroom Panama.  In operational actions carried out by officials of the Customs Enforcement Directorate, a truck coming from the border with Costa Rica, which was transporting dozens of boxes of liquor, was detained.  Likewise, at the San Isidro Checkpoint, when checking two trucks coming from Paso Canoas towards David, they were transporting a total of 600 bags of packaged rice seeds, which were presumed to have come from Costa Rica without any type of registration or inspection. A pixbae shipment was also seized and is under investigation by the authorities.  This retention was due to a citizen alert and at the time of the verifications, said shipment was found, which did not have documents supporting the legal possession of the pixbae.  Pixbae (Bactris gasipaes), sometimes called the piba or peach palm fruit, is a typical Panamanian fruit that grows in large bunches from a palm tree. The fruit is a drupe, with an edible pulp surrounding a single seed. Fruits are 4-6 cm long and 3-5 cm wide. All of these seizures are being investigated at the Customs offices in the city of David for the corresponding investigations.
