MAY CLINIC - ANIMAL #25,000!!  🎈🎉 🥂🐶 🐱

On Sunday May 28th, Amigos de Animales spayed our 25,000th animal!! Pelusa is a beautiful white cat owned by Lowam Estribi.  What an amazing accomplishment in our 18 years of existence!

That day we spayed or neutered 266 animals, 103 dogs and 163 cats with six vets and one trainee working.

70% of the animals were female and 46% came from Boquete. 189 animals were brought in by owners and 70 came from collectors.

HELP NEEDED TO CUT CAT SLEEVES

Wanted: People to cut the cute nylon sleeves we put on female cats so they don't tear out their stitches. All you need is opposable thumbs and a sharp pair of scissors. I will show you how to do it. It's easy.

GET TO KNOW OUR AMIGOS DE ANIMALES FAMILY

This month we're featuring our incredible past president who will be leaving us soon:

Name: Alicia McGuigan

Your position/title with AdA:  Former President, volunteer

How long have you been working with AdA?  A looong time…I think since 2009

Alicia%20McGuigan%20sq.jpg

Can you tell us a little bit more about what you do with AdA?:  I have done many things.  I started as volunteer coordinator to try to recognize our volunteers and make sure they were in the right place at the right time. It was rather chaotic at first!  I tried being a surgical assistant and quickly learned that it was not for me. I have worked out front in Registration and been the pizza delivery person.  My favorite thing to do is working in kitty recovery and interacting with their owners.

Why would you encourage others to volunteer here with AdA?  Volunteering with Animales has been a highlight of my life.  In my business career, I always said that in my next life I wanted to do something that was meaningful and actually mattered.  And this really mattered!  Look at the Boquete area…there are no packs of sad starving dogs and cats roaming the streets.  We have sterilized over 25,000 animals, what a difference that has made in this community!  Volunteering is the best way to meet and make friends in a community and I have loved every minute of it.

KIBBLE & BITS:

•  Food Drive: We are continuing to feed needy dogs and cats in Boquete at a cost of over $1,500 per month.  You can donate by clicking here

•  Membership Drive: Sign up for your annual Amigos de Animales membership and receive a great car magnet. Membership is still only $10. You can sign up at the BCP Tuesday Market or at a clinic.

•  Gift certificates: We have made gift certificates in the denomination of $10 and $20, the price of an individual sterilization for a cat or a dog. Give your neighbors, gardeners and maids certificates for their dogs and cats.  Let’s help each other help each other!
These certificates are an easy way to help. They are available at the Animales table at the BCP Tuesday Market or at the clinics

•  2024 Calendar: We've sold out of the 2023 calendars. Contact Larry & Jennifer Pascal to get your animal or ad in the 2024 calendar. landjpascal@msn.com

•  Education program: We are visiting local schools to educate students about proper care for their pets, and the importance of spaying and neutering animals. Please email Katrina at katrinakneebone@gmail.com if you can help.

•  Spay or neuter your animal: we get new requests daily, but we are still doing clinics by appointment only. Contact Rosa, our appointment coordinator, at 6563-8686 to be added to our list.

•  Rescue/adoption?: The mission of Amigos de Animales is strictly spay and neuter, we are not a rescue, adoption or veterinary service.  Please do not ask Rosa about any other service, but there are many other rescue groups in and around Boquete
