AMIGOS DE ANIMALES BOQUETE PANAMÁ   MAY 2023 NEWSLETTER APRIL CLINIC   On Sunday April 30th, Amigos de Animales spayed or neutered 311 animals, 150 dogs and 161 cats with six vets and one trainee working.    70% of the animals were female and 51% came from Boquete. 241 animals were brought in by owners and 70 came from collectors.     See more statistics below. We expect to spay or neuter our 25,000th animal in May!!! VOLCANCITO MINI-CLINIC   On Sunday May 14th we took our van to the Escuela de Volcancito. Dra. Amanda spayed or neutered 26 dogs and 13 cats.   Thanks to Larry & Jennifer Pascal for taking over the coordination of our mini-clinics, and thanks to all of the volunteers who helped. GET TO KNOW OUR AMIGOS DE ANIMALES FAMILY This month we're featuring another of our incredible "collectors":   Name: Lulu Borrell   Your position/title with AdA:  Animal Collector   How long have you been working with AdA?  I started about three years after Amigos de Animales started….so approximately 15 years. Can you tell us a little bit more about what you do with AdA?:  Every month, I pick up animals from people who don’t have the time and/or transportation to take their animals to the clinics in David and Boquete.  I explain to them the importance of sterilization in order to control the population and reduce the number of abandoned and mistreated animals.   Why would you encourage others to volunteer here with AdA?  Animals need our help.  There are not enough adopters out there who are able to give the love and care that animals deserve…so it is important to control the population..   Click here for the rest of Lulu's story and more pictures on our website.  KIBBLE & BITS:   •  Food Drive: We are continuing to feed needy dogs and cats in Boquete at a cost of over $1,300 per month.  You can donate by clicking here   •  Membership Drive: Sign up for your annual Amigos de Animales membership and receive a great car magnet. Membership is still only $10. You can sign up at the BCP Tuesday Market or at a clinic.   •  Gift certificates: We have made gift certificates in the denomination of $10 and $20, the cost of an individual sterilization for a cat or a dog. Give your neighbors, gardeners and maids certificates for their dogs and cats.  Let’s help each other help each other!   These certificates are an easy way to help. They are available at the Animales table at the BCP Tuesday Market or at the clinics   •  2024 Calendar: We've sold out of the 2023 calendars.
