Heavy rain alert for weekend

The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc)has issued a prevention notice for the weekend before the passage through  Panama of the Onda del Este,  and warns the population to avoid crossing or bathing in rivers and streams.

The Directorate of Hydrometeorology of the Electric Transmission Company (Etesa) reported that an unstable atmosphere is expected in the provinces, regions, and maritime areas of the country with downpours and storms. The notice will be in effect until this Sunday, July 31.

Emanuel Velásquez, from Hydrometeorology of Etesa, said that the greatest intensity of the rains will occur on Saturday.

Tropical wave bringing “significant” rains

The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) reported Monday, August 1, that it maintains monitoring and surveillance work due to the entry into the country of tropical wave No. 23.

According to forecasts, this new tropical wave will enter the isthmus during the next 18 to 36 hours.

Sinaproc detailed that instability in the climate and significant rains are forecast until August 3, 2022, for which the provinces, counties and maritime areas of the country are kept under notice.
