From Chef Ben:

So, it is with a bittersweet feeling that I write all of you this week. This will be the last blog till
the first of November. My family and I will be traveling back to the states for a visit! I’m going to
recharge and get inspired in Texas. So that I can bring you some new menu items to Mesa Azul soon!
And of course, we have grandparents that are missing their grandchild. I’m sure they miss us, but pretty
sure they are most excited to see Ava!
This trip comes with a lot of mixed feelings, that I’m sure you all have experienced before. On
one hand I’m looking forward to visiting with family, but on the other hand I am going to miss all of you!
In just a short time I have grown very attached to the Mesa Azul family. It is a weird feeling visiting a
place that I used to call “home” ……NOT be home anymore. It is not longer a place I live but visit. My
Family and I have quickly switched to calling Boquete home and not Texas. We couldn’t be happier with
our decision to move our family here. So, I’m interested to see how our perspective will be. I have a
feeling we will be counting the days till we return HOME here in Panama!
I know what you are thinking?? “What about Mesa Azul when you are gone!??” Have no fears!
The restaurant and you all are in good hands while I’ll be gone. Chef Abraham is a talented chef and will
take good care of you, along with the rest of our staff! Abraham btw will be battling Sugar and Spice
Sous chef on October 9 th at Mesa Azul! Definitely get your reservations in because you do not want to
miss that! And I will look forward to visiting with all of you in the next couple of weeks before I leave.
Love to hear your “home visit” / travel stories!
