In preparation for resumption of field trips in 2021. Leader Paul Myers is preparing a CONTACT LIST to notify people of upcoming geological activities and manage sign-ups. if you wish to receive field trip notices Contact Paul Myers at: paul.myers600@gmail.com These 3 to 8-hour field trips (See tentative list below) are free and require observance of COVID restrictions such as face masks, and 2 meter distancing. The shorter trips involve minimal easy walking, whereas the longer ones are generally more strenuous. Once you are on the Contact List you will be eligible to sign up. You are reminded that last-minute cancellations are strongly discouraged. Once a field trip is "full" you may sign up as a "stand-by". We will need to recruit volunteer drivers. Children under the age of 10 are not eligible. Beginner: Boquete-Local (3-hr morning) "Reading Landscape - Geologic Sequence, History" Intermediate: Boquete - Potrerios: Surficial Processes, Mass Wastage (4.5 hr morning) Advanced: Pre-Baru(? )Volcanism, Jaramllo, Caldera Petroglyphs, Gualaca Pk. pyroclastic flow. 5hr) Advanced: Potrerios, Baru lahars + Volcan Baru Debris Avalanche (7 hr) Advanced: Volcan + Baru National Pk, Caldera Interior (8 hr, more strenuous 2-3 miles walking) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
