Moderators Moderator_02 Posted September 26, 2020 Moderators Share Posted September 26, 2020 Quote The spreading Assembly Virus Posted 25/09/2020 An old virus has appeared in the National Assembly: that of creating new townships. The deputies have been accurate: they choose the most unfortunate moments to try to ensure their political survival, because, at this point, they calculate how down they are that they have already begun to draw up a political plan with which they intend to guarantee, at least, a more period in the seat. These deputies have proven to be both incapable and opportunistic: they either make laws to create or formalize patron saint festivities, or to create more townships. But not a single law that serves their constituents. It is political roguery in all its glory. They look for political spaces to control; they intend to fatten a payroll that already suffers from morbid obesity, with officials who do not work; people just as useless as them. How will Panama survive the greed of politicians who have such grotesque intellectual limitations? Can you explain what one more village is for? These are just maneuvers for the 2024 elections. What a pity that, instead of legislating in search of the common good, what they do is make society even more ill, with examples that would make Cosa Nostra proud. - LA PRENSA, Sep. 25 https://www.newsroompanama.com/opinion/the-spreading-assembly-virus
Moderators Moderator_02 Posted September 29, 2020 Author Moderators Share Posted September 29, 2020 Quote OPINION- Politicians outweigh society Posted 28/09/2020 The Panama Canal Authority has authorized an extension of the permit for the compatibility of the activities of the projected electricity generation plant, based on natural gas, of the Panama NG Power company. This was achieved thanks to a request from the Administrative Unit of Reverted Assets of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). The threads of political power are moving to realize a project that has been questioned from all angles, and with important pending legal processes, the results of which should have been awaited before proceeding with these clearly suspicious requests. But since it is a prominent supporter, things are starting to move in its favor, regardless of the irregularities of this project. The ruling party card outweighs the interests of the state. Typical of the PRD, an example followed by the rest of the political parties, whose colors they depose when they are joined by the green color of a project that they can take advantage of. This movement of the MEF reveals - without a doubt - the course of the legal process, and this has set the engines of the company in motion. Once again we will witness how the interests of politicians weigh much more than those of Panamanian society. Moderators Moderator_02 Posted October 8, 2020 Author Moderators Share Posted October 8, 2020 Quote OPINION: Panama’s opium dream he Natuinal Assembly predators Posted 07/10/2020 Every day that passes, citizens must be sharper, since it seems that the State is a booty that is shared by the politicians of each party that alternate in power. It is hard to believe that every day we come across a business that smells like a bargain. This is not an exception, it is the daily routine. Transparency and accountability have received a kick and been relegated without anyone being able to force officials to justify their decisions or explain to us how the money that belongs to us is invested or spent. They believe they are above the Law and, especially, above the citizens, who consider us only the source of the money that makes it possible for them to have the status of royalty or members of a privileged caste. Panama needs to wake up from this opium dream in which the only ones who are aware of what they are doing are them. Let's not wait for a miracle to happen by divine grace; This miracle will only be possible if society begins to demand explanations, to take the initiative. Only then will a change occur. Otherwise, consciously or unconsciously, we are giving up the country we now know. - LA PRENSA Oct, 7 https://www.newsroompanama.com/opinion/opinion-panamas-opium-dream
