January Animales Clinic

On Sunday January 31, 2016, Amigos de Animales spayed or neutered 238 animals, 144 dogs and 94 cats.  With eight (8!) vets working, the last animal went through at 3:30 and we closed up around 5:30.

There were several other surgeries that day as well for tumors, and the last animal of the day was a dog with a huge hernia that had all the vets and many other medical people gathered around to observe this surgery. Truly amazing!

238 was not quite a record for us; that was in January 2014 at the school in Los Naranjos. We are happy that our new facility allows us to be able to take care of so many animals in one day, but as always our first concern is for the health and safety of the animals that are entrusted to us.

We had many new volunteers with us and we welcome them all. We are fortunate to have such a great group of people to work with us every month.  We have the best volunteers – and vets – in the world!

Thank you to Heidi from Mike’s for the pizzas and Delia and Colleen and all our fabulous food providers too numerous to mention here; the donations of food really ensure that we are well fed and energetic throughout the day.  We wish Nancy Halbert all the best for a speedy recovery from her knee surgery.

Please note:  the next clinic will be on Sunday February 21. We moved the date up a week to accommodate those who are working at or wish to attend the jazz fest.

For a reservation, call Magaly at 6563-8686 or at boqueteanimales@gmail.com.

You must have a reservation as we are trying to limit our numbers at each clinic to a level that will allow the vets and volunteers to work safely.
