Robberies in Panama fell 33% and homicides 21.4% in the first 100 days of the current administration compared to the first 100 days of the previous regime said Security Minister Rolando Mirones when presenting his report the National Assembly last week.

Morones told lawmakers that of the 3,000 immigrants who have arrived in the territory this year, there are still 133 that have not been legalized.

He said that the Government's security plan is based on four pillars: repression, prevention, rehabilitation, and institutional strengthening.

Next year the General Tomas Herrera Institute in Rio Hato will be re-opened,  not as a military center but as a school of excellence,  with 90 %  of graduates not linked ed to military disciplines, such as doctors, architects,  and engineers.
