A team of American medical specialists will be at Panama’s Children’s Hospital (Hospital Del Nino on Tuesday, March  12,  to evaluate burned children and decide if they will benefit from surgical intervention.

If it is required, they will be taken to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, in Galveston, Texas.

Over 100 children accompanied by family members will be seen starting at 9 a.m.

Rodolfo Moreno, president of Abou Saad-Shriners, said that the decisions will be made according to the conditions of the burn and parents will have to provide the child’s birth certificate and medical record.

"The documentation will be analyzed in the U.S., where it will be indicated which child needs to be operated on or have a skin graft to improve their quality of life," said Moreno.

On  Monday, March 11, a seminar will be offered to the personnel of the Panama Fire department hat works in the Panama Benemérito Fire Department so that when they detect a person who is burned they can, determine the level of affectation from one to four. Experts  in dealing with  smoke inhalation  and other fire-related injuries will participate
