The under-20 team from Panama is back to preparation work for their participation in the World Cup in the category, that takes place in Poland from May 23 to June 15 of this year.

Jorge Luis Dely Valdes, the trainer of the Panamanian national team, picked up 23 players to start this first micro-cycle of 2019, among them two players of Panamanian roots who are members of international clubs.

These players are Frederick Ter Horst, who has played in youth teams in Spain, Turkey and England; and Wesley Gordon, who is 14 years old and plays at Club Esportiu Mercantil, in Barcelona, Spain.

"We hope to work this week on correcting the mistakes we saw in the Pre-World event, and we will include some aspects that we want to implement in the World Cup," said Jorge Luis Dely Valdes.

Dely Valdes added that he still cannot work on anything specific because he does not know what the rivals will be in the Under 20 World Cup.

"For the moment," added Dely, "we must wait for the draw on February 23 to learn about the rivals and focus the work based on what these opponents can present," he said.

The 23 players called to practice will work from Monday until next Wednesday, said the strategist.

This first micro cycle started Monday morning in the gymnasium of the High-Performance Center of PANDEPORTES located in the Irving Saladino Sports City, in the Panamanian capital

The Panamanian national team will travel to Poland for their fifth World Cup in the under-20 category. Panama has competed in the Under 20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates 2003, in the Netherlands 2005, in Canada 2007, in Colombia 2011 and in New Zealand 2015.
