Moderators Moderator_02 Posted December 15, 2018 Moderators Posted December 15, 2018 Quote Thousands of applications from foreigners to marry nationals in Panama Fri, 12/14/2018 - 12:57 More than 3,000 applications to marry nationals have been filed in the past 11 months in 2018 by foreigners before the Migration of Panama, of which 2,336 were approved and 991 denied, reported today a official source. Colombia tops the list of the countries with the highest number of applications completed, with 647 accepted and 266 canceled, followed by Venezuela, which has 393 admitted and 258 rejected, and the Dominican Republic with 386 certified requests and 283 denied requests. In fourth place is Nicaragua with 240 approved and 92 denied, while other countries reach 670 certified and 92 denied, the National Migration Service of Panama (SNM) said in a public report. Each of these citizens approached the Migration offices in order to initiate the procedures that would allow them to apply for a married permit with a Panamanian, according to the provisions of Law 3 of February 22, 2008, which created the SNM. In 2017, a total of 1,816 applications were approved and 1,276 denied, since "these couples did not pass the interview nor the home visit". The Law that governs the Migration Service "is clear in emphasizing that the marriage of a foreigner (a) with a national does not in itself grant the right to residency in the Republic of Panama," said said entity. The Migration Service also mentioned that "for reasons of health, morality, public safety, national economy or social need may deny entry or residence in the country to foreigners married to Panamanian national (a)," according to official information . https://www.panamatoday.com/panama/thousands-applications-foreigners-marry-nationals-panama-8670 Quote
