When we go surfing, we often see these heavy loaded haulers going way too fast on the turns.   Buses as well.

Here is a larger version of the scene of the accident shown in the above news article, extracted from DíaaDía. I find it hard to understand how a flatbed trailer of that size can flip upside down, but it obviously did.

I don't think the highway is engineered for heavy loaded haulers to go faster than 80 km.....and they do.  Once they start to whip the story's over.

A MOTHER  and her two children walking to school were run over and killed by an articulated truck on the Inter-American Highway near the Cobre River, in Viguí, Veraguas. on Monday morning, October 8.

The deaths follow a grim traffic weekend in the province with two others dead and one critically injured, bringing the provincial highway toll this year to 29.  Nationally 294 have died in traffic accidents.

THE DRIVER  of an articulated truck that killed a mother and her two sons when she was taking them to school in Veraguas has been charged with aggravated manslaughter but will not face preventive detention after a judge of guarantees ruled that he report to authorities twice a month while police investigations continue.

Roger Rujano, 44,  driver of the truck that ran over Magdalena Boniche and  Erick Abdiel, 9. and Anthony Núñez 7 on the inter-American Highway in El Higo de la Mesa.on  Monday, October 8,  was guarded by relatives and avoided media when he appeared at the indictment hearing on  Tuesday.

Judge Iris Marquéz Mojica legalized the arrest and charged him with aggravated manslaughter however the precautionary measure was notification of 15 and 30 of each month.

Anabelia Morales, Municipal Comptroller of the La Mesa district, who represented the Public Prosecutor’s Office, had requested preventive detention.
