    Sunday morning yoga eases students into the flow of the day through gentle and conscious movements, emphasizing learning to listen to the body. This practice is intuitively adapted to the needs of the students, with each day creating something new and embracing the gifts of the day. Conscious relaxation at the end of the asana practice includes the optional use of chakra opening essential oils and gentle massage. Please indicate if you wish to opt out of the oils and/or massage. In this four-part series you will: · Explore the foundations of keeping your back healthy all life long. · Discover what movements you can cultivate to improve function, maintain back health, and heal discomfort. · Learn how to loosen up all the areas in the body that affect your back. Everything in the body is connected, so it’s essential to keep everything open and free. The more space we create in the body the more freedom we experience. The more freedom the better we feel. · Learn simple poses and exercises to strengthen your core, strengthen your back and stretch your back. · Decrease tension from the back, hips, neck, spine and shoulders. · Learn how poor posture contributes to neck and back pain. This series is open to students of all skill levels who want to create or maintain a healthy back. Participants will receive detailed handouts so that they can practice at home! Emphasis is placed on breathing (Ujjayi), energy locks (Bandhas), gaze (Drishti) and transitions (Vinyasa). Poses are held for five breaths and are interconnected with flowing movements. As this class develops it is able to be custom-tailored to the group’s needs in the spirit of traditional yoga where asanas (poses) were ‘prescribed’ for various conditions (ie, back pain, tight shoulders, and a multitude of other aliments / afflictions.) … Hence, the more you attend practice — and provide feedback — the more supportive and deep the practice will become!
