  1. April 23, 2017 - 42 animals were spayed/neutered by Dr. Andres Tello, our wonderful veterinarian. http://spaypanama-chiriqui.org/104th.html This brings our total of dogs and cats sterilized to 3,885. Although we have sterilized more than 42 animals in one day, this was our longest day ever. We didn't close the doors until 7:30 pm. We had a LOT of BIG female dogs, two abortions (all more time consuming), plus three huge tumors and a knee surgery. One tumor took an hour, and the knee surgery was also quite time consuming. Dr. Tello also performed eye surgery on a dog. One cat had to be euth
  2. Thus far, we have spayed/neutered 3,662 dogs/cats, which would have otherwise resulted in births of thousands of animals that that would have been abandoned—those who would have suffered horrible lives on the streets—if they survived. When some of those unfortunate dogs and cats have survived, male and female alike, they have also contributed to the overpopulation. Please see my web page for this 99th clinic: http://spaypanama-chiriqui.org/99th.html for some heartwarming reports and also see my Flickr album of pictures taken during the clinic.on October 23, 2016. My hea
  3. Every animal counts, but this was the fewest number of animals we sterilized at a single clinic in a LONG time. It was a disappointing day in that regard. See http://spaypanama-chiriqui.org/98th.html We have now sterilized 3,628 dogs and cats. We had six last-minute cancelations and 15 no-shows. Sometimes there are valid reasons for last-minute cancelations, but when people who have confirmed their appointments do not show up without bothering to notify us, it is rude and demonstrates disrespect for the doctor and our volunteers. Those inconsiderate people can bring their animals to
  4. August 28, 2016 - Cats, cats, cats! Dr. Tello sterilized 22 dogs and 23 cats for a total of 45 animals. http://spaypanama-chiriqui.org/97th.html He also performed other procedures, including removing an eye from a dog and removing a venereal tumor. We have now sterilized 3,605 dogs and cats. Be sure to see the Flickr photo album within the web page. In the Volcan area, we desperately need more people to get involved with: --fostering animals in need --helping to find homes for animals in need --filing denuncias against people who abuse animals Please contact us and help if
  5. Sunday, May 22, 2016 - 41 animals were spayed/neutered by Dr. Andres Tello, our wonderful veterinarian. Plus he removed a huge venereal tumor from a male dog and he examined and diagnosed a hind-leg limp of a dog. http://spaypanama-chiriqui.org/94th.html A man brought his female puppy to be spayed. He said he would be leaving Panama in a few days and wanted to find a home for the puppy. Jose's cousin wants the puppy and I am fostering her while the cousin has her fence rebuilt. The puppy, Niña, is really cute! Blessings and thanks to Roseanne Bateman and Marguerite Morris. They fi
  6. I'm a little late in finishing my web page for this clinic. Three of my six rescued puppies contracted parvo a few days ago. This is my first experience with puppies. Treating parvo has been (and is) a 24/7 job. I gave a report about it on my web page: http://spaypanama-chiriqui.org/88th.html Our next clinic, the final one for 2015, will be on November 22nd. The list is already half filled, so call (or email) right away if you need an appointment. Dottie at 6517-8752, or Jose (for Spanish) at 6891-0999. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who participates in our clinics: bringing animals to be st
  7. SpayPanama-Chriqui is a low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Volcan. We have one veterinarian, our wonderful Dr. Andres Tello who comes from Costa Rica. (He is Panamanian but lives in Costa Rica.) We hold our clinics once a month in Volcán, except for December. Except for our veterinarian, neither I nor anyone else connected with the clinics receives any pay or financial benefit. I rent the building where we hold the clinics, and I buy all the anesthesia, medications, instruments, supplies, and equipment. I have no offices, no salaries, no advertising, no overhead. Every penny goes for the animals.
