Due to unforeseen circumstances, artist Mary Ellen Wattsmust postpone her scheduled presentation for this meeting. Andrew Baze in simple terms (no tech-speak) will explain how to protect yourself from cyber criminals in an easy to understand language for non-technical people. He'll cover these areas: -- what's happening on the internet, and some typical dangers that you can avoid, including phishing -- how to use, improve, and securely store your passwords and passphrases (and sometimes how to avoid a password altogether!) -- how a password manager can make all of this password stuff 1) more secure 2) way more convenient -- what is MFA, how it can be easy to use, and why everyone should use it

View this email in your browser Monthly Meeting Wednesday February 14th 10-11am Animales Event Center Directions to Animales Celeste Mendelsohn Presents "Yoga for the Rest of Us" Celeste is a yoga therapist and meditation instructor whose work focuses on the journey to healthy aging, which involves a better understanding of how stress and anxiety affect us, and how the lack of movement and regular exercise creates a lot of the “issues we have in our tissues.” She has a passion for helping people to feel more at home in their bodies and comfortable with their thoughts. Celeste will take the group through some basic techniques that will help you relax more, feel better, and sleep more soundly. Please come to the meeting in comfortable clothes. No need for a mat or props, but you should be able to move around without clothing being restricting. Donations to support our work are gratefully accepted. Yoga is everywhere these days: gyms, studios, parks, even on surfboards and mountaintops. People are striving to find, as Celeste’s daughter would say, “their Zennie zone.” The problem is that in order to do what they think they need to do to be fit, hip, cool, and Zen they work very hard at looking like they are, and lose the ability to be. As older humans who have been around a while, we may be a bit jaded to this sort of behavior. It could even turn people against the very idea of yoga as a healing modality for them. All the hype that seems to go with the get-fit yoga lifestyle is exhausting, frustrating, and honestly—expensive! $150 yoga pants? Really?!? What about the rest of us? Is yoga for us? Yes, it is, especially now. Many people don’t realize how beneficial yoga can be to their healthy aging, well-being, sleep, strength and overall fitness. As we age we tend to lean toward a more sedentary lifestyle. But doing this can cause untold damage to our bodies and our brains. We need to keep moving! This doesn’t mean running marathons or surfing the big waves—unless you want to! But it should include focused techniques for breathing and movement, starting with good, easy stretches that will leave you feeling more comfortable in your body and with a peaceful mind. Celeste Mendelsohn is an IAYT Certified yoga therapist and an ERYT500 teacher with Yoga Alliance. She is certified to teach meditation, and is currently training in iRest Yoga Nidra and EMDR. Celeste works with clients with a variety of issues, including heart disease, cancer, mobility challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction. Yoga tarana means yoga for healing, which Celeste practices herself, and hopes to teach others to do, every day of her life. There is still room, click the button below to sign up for the CPR class. It will be held right after the meeting there is still room. Sign up CPR Our mailing address is: Alto Boquete, info@boquetehealth.org

Electricity is the Lifeblood of Modern Civilization! He met his wife when he installed a solar system for her off grid beach house. Chris is now retired so this is not an infomercial. We are happy to have local snake expert, Mike Hill as our guest speaker. He is retired fish and game wildlife biologist from California. Below items will be covered in his presentation Ways to identify and misidentify venomous snakes How most snake bites occur What to do—and not do—if you are bitten Common non-venomous snakes in and near Boquete Common venomous snakes in and near Boquete Q&A Mike earned his Bachelor's degree in Fisheries from Humboldt State University in 1983, and his Master's degree in Agriculture, specializing in Soil Science, in 2009. His career highlights include using electricity to catch fish, and he once wrested a bull elk to the ground almost by himself. He describes himself as a herpetologist in a loose sense of the term, and has had a love of reptiles since he was a child. He spent many of his early days catching lizards and snakes in the outskirts of Los Angeles. He caught his first rattlesnake when he was about 12 and has handled dozens of venomous snakes since then. He retired in late 2018 and relocated with his wife to Panamá, which is his version of paradise due to the incredible fishing and abundance of wildlife, especially reptiles.

  15. Hi Bud I get emails now and then from them but not every month (it does not go to junk mail). Also its funny they send an email showing KW usage and beginning and ending meter reading, and that I will get my bill in a day or two then an hour later I get my bill. So how do you find your bill on their web site?? Thanks Chris
  16. You can fly to Cuba as an American under almost the same rules as last month. Trump only shut down the cruise ships going to Cuba and section 8 “people to people”. Section 12 is easiest “support for the Cuban people”. Spend money at non black listed Cuban restaurants hotels art gallery etc. document it. ViaHero.com can set you up with itinerary. When you sign the form you are stating that you are going to live by the rules and keep a record of what you did in case they want to review you. With 2 million tourist going from us to Cuba in the last couple of years I think you have a better chance at the lottery than being reviewed. Cuba is wonderful to visit, the people are friendly and for the most part honest. Normal dumb tourist over charge is in effect like many other countries but only a few places. Havana is incredible beautiful and also heart breaking. Two classes of people, rich and poor. We were there on June 1st and 2nd taught a paper making class to Cuban artist. It was great fun. Then June 4th trump shut down cruise ships to Cuba. Which canceled our return visit on June 8 and 9 Which only really hurts the poor people. American Airlines is $250 round trip from Miami to Havana July 2 I tried.
  17. Very long here. My friend in la Palma near golfito said it was really intense. I think the readings at 6.2 are closer. Having an after shock as I write this here in Caldera. Will post readings when I see them
  18. Now down graded to a 6.5. Jaco is over 170 miles from here. I am in caldera, that was a really lot of movement for an earthquake that was so far away. It does not make sense.
  19. First report in 6.8 in costa rica https://www.emsc-csem.org/Earthquake/seismologist.php its up on usgs site now 6.8. It is a really long way from here this earthquake has to have caused a lot of damage in Costa Rica including San Jose, I hope I am wrong. Also wonder if we have a tsunami problem as it happens on the cost just south of San Jose.
  20. Restaurante El Novillo Gordo It is a little sad, we had some very good meals there when it was in David next to the used car lot on the old boquete road just as you come into town. We did stop in and had the chicken quesadilla which was very good. it had a slightly upscale atmosphere in david, table cloths, high ceilings mart work. I don't know what you would call it now. The last chef in david was good. what is sad is you almost could not pick a worse location for a restaurant in boquete. No parking, almost impossible to walk to it - weaving between moving and parked trucks. No visibility it has been there for a month and this is first time anybody said anything. In David we used to think it was a money laundering place because it was so nice the food was good and there was hardly ever anybody there. In David their executive lunch was only six dollars. Panamanian style lunch and usually quite good. Excellent soup, salad, rice and beans and meat. If we can remember will go try it out when were in town next time.
  21. We loved this place, great food, the veggie drinks hava no sugar and are almost a meal in themselves. Put a review on trip advisor to help them out Rustica Restaurant

I don't understand, you can not see the new canal from the MiraFlores locks, at Miraflores you can do the new 3D transit, which is a movie theater. To see the new locks you need to go to the Colon side to the Agua Clara Observation Center. The ad for this tour is a little misleading it says tour of canal in heading but in text it says new canal tour but description say MiraFlores locks. A little confusing but I am sure everybody will have a fun time just know you are going to see the old canal, which is way cool.
