  1. Bulk Organics Buying Club is being started in Boquete, for collectively acquiring organic dry goods at the most reasonable prices possible, and with the smallest carbon footprint. A lifetime membership in BOBC is $10. Membership is necessary to cement our status as a club, distinguishing us from retail stores. While Buying Clubs were very popular in places, not all of us have experienced one. All members can contribute to the list of what we want made available here. Some purchase full containers, but most leave part of what they order to share with others. If we want rye flour, we will get a bag knowing you want only 5# of it, but also that many of us use rye flour sporadically, if not regularly. Our advantage is that we have a Distribution Center where we can store an excess until other members want it, and the item gets reordered. Through this process we have acquired an impressive inventory, available for purchase by any member at any time we're open. Because we order in the largest reasonable quantities instead of single-serve packages, the part you purchase has to be put into containers you provide. Bring your empties, fill them here and avoid hauling packaging materials home, only to throw them away when you put your food into the empty container. To participate in and benefit from this community supported effort, contact lapalmarosa@gmail.com I'll send you directions to the Distribution Center, the days/hours open, a copy of the current inventory/price list, and answer your questions. Those of us who are members, most cordially invite you to join us for all our mutual benefit, and hope to see you soon. Our power is in our combined numbers!

  3. When the new Bqt-David highway was built, a new power pole was installed on the property line at the end of our driveway. The new pole is also 8' from the still-present, never removed, old power pole, which is also 8' into our entrance. For years i requested it be removed every time i paid a power bill and finally received a reply that removal would have to be at our expense, but would happen asa we deposited $1770 to a Naturgy acct. The pole is a danger. It's position requires cars turning into the narrow driveway to slow down to the turning speed before getting off the highway. The turn can't be made from the shoulder, so, worse yet, if a driver doesn't turn sufficiently sharp the first try, they have to back into oncoming traffic to make a second attempt. I don't believe we own this pole or responsibility for it. It is Naturgy's pole, they installed both of them, one is a hazzard, and they haven't completely disconnected from it. All the wires are attached to the new pole, but a few are also still attached to the old one. Naturgy has steadfastly refused to make the effort to get it out of our driveway. I took a complaint to our corregiduria about 3 years ago. She looked at the picture and said "oh, they just didn't remove it." I thought that put us on the same page but we never heard from her or hers, since. Any idea what could help get this pole removed? off-forum please:) lapalmarosa@gmail.com
  4. Looking for the broad-breasted (Butterball) kind of turkey, not the smaller Panamanian ones. We could use fertile eggs, or a pair of adults, or more, depending on what's available. Please contact me off-forum, at lapalmarosa@gmail.com Many thanx!
  5. BULK ORGANICS BUYING CLUB members, cooperatively consolidate our buying power to meet our needs for organic goods while minimizing costs and our carbon footprint. We attempt to provide dry goods that are not generally available in Panama as organics: flours, grains, seeds, nuts, oils, spices, beans, dried fruits, rices, sweeteners, animal feed, cleaning products, and more. Our Distribution Center is in the lower part of Alto Boquete. Our orders are received there, and stored until members are able to pick up the shares they can use. The part of a package that was ordered without being entirely sold, is put on our storage racks and made available to the other members until it's time to reorder. We're accumulating an impressive list of items that are already here, making our Buying Club a more effective resource with every order received. Members provide the containers for their foods to be weighed into. Goods are mostly priced by the pound. Visit our Distribution Center, get your membership, and make your first purchases all in one trip. Becoming a Bulk Organics Buying Club member ($10 lifetime membership) is an easy way to support the efforts of your neighbors, participate in a community activity, and do one of the best possible things for yourself:) Any changes to your diet, in hopes of improving health, will be far more effective if they do not contain agricultural toxins! DISTRIBUTION CENTER hours: Monday and Thursday 12-6, Tuesday 11-5 and Friday 10-5. DIRECTIONS: in the lower part of Alto Boquete, we're on the David-Boquete hiway, past the new Texaco on your right if you're moving towards David. within what would be about the next 2 blocks, our entrance is immediately on the downhill side of Chopsticks Restaurant/Higgins Waffle House. TURN IN JUST AFTER THE GIANT COCONUT! the house is white w/red roof, sits back from the road a bit, and is numbered 1600. for more information or an inventory list, please email lapalmarosa@gmail.com
  6. A companion for a milk cow, and someone to eat things the cow doesn't. We don't need a prime specimen of goathood or a huge milk producer, but health is important. please reply by email to: lapalmarosa@gmail.com
  7. Big BROADBREASTED turkeys, the 20-35+# Butterball types. We need a minimum of one breeding pair, any color. If you're not the seller, but know someone who has them, that'd be a start. They've been very difficult to find! Please reply by email at lapalmarosa@gmail.com. thanks!
