  1. Went for a border run last week and there were 75 - 100 persons (supposedly from Africa) waiting at Costa Rica immigration. They had paperwork for a number of them and were taking pictures for entry to Costa Rica. Apparently Costa Rica is taking in a few at a time. Does anyone know where they are sending these people to? What will happen to the others at the Derian?
  2. I take meds for high blood pressure, have had a heart attack 5 years ago and am borderline diabetic. Am I still a candidate? Where would I have to go to give?
  3. If Panama's scandal involving Moassack Fonseca involved money being moved to other countries why is the investigation and recommendations centering on only Panama? Full disclosure would include these other countries used to launder/hide money originating with firms in Panama. Am I wrong?
  4. I too love Burricos and don't get there often enough. The food is authentic Mexican, not so much TexMex since the owners are Mexican. Tried to talk them into opening a location in Boquete but they are happy in Volcan. Darn!
  5. I am O positive but am age 65. I do not have a car and would need to know where I can donate.
  6. Thank you for this "nudge" Bonnie. I have been putting off going through the steps to make it easier for those who will deal with my passing. I am sorry for your loss and urge you to join Chicas when you are ready. We are single women who help each other, luncheon once per month and provide scholorships for young native/Panamanian girls to further their educations. A great group!
  7. They have a $7.50 luncheon specials that includes 5 choices including salmon. You get tea or lemonade with it as well. A very good value and a great way to sample their food. A go to place for me.
  8. I too had an issue with Airbox and ended up going to E Shop. Not cheaper by any means but a much more pleasant environment. They are always polite and not at all like the Airbox girl who tried to make their mistake into my mistake. While customer service is not a strong point in the Panamanian culture, rudeness is not acceptable.
  9. Varela appears to be "serving the people" but is obviously making enemies of some very influential people in the meantime. What kind of government has a law that provides immunity to officials who serve the public? Obviously a corrupt one! This law should have been abolished the moment Varela took office.
  10. We've added a gourmet gift basket raffle and our MEN are preparing a dining feast for your pleasure!!!!. Some recent additions include caesar salad, artichoke dip, brownies, cookies and garlic bread. Get your tickets at BCP Saturday and Tuesday and Mail Boxes any day. Appetizers served promptly at 2:00 pm. Do not be late and miss out on our yummy menu!
  11. Article does not say where in Boquete this will be built. Any idea?
  12. While I believe that the science of procreation is necessary for all school children, glorifying the act is not preferred by many religious groups since premarital sex is a sin per the Bible. Education is the key to prevention. Every generation deals with the raging hormones of teenagers regardless of country of origin or education. It is biology.
  13. So far, Jalopeno Poppers, Asian Dish from Mikes, BBQ Veggie Skewers, BBQ Pork Sliders, BBQ Beef Ribs, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Chicken Spaghetti, Fish, Corn and a variety of fresh salads. Refreshments include, water, cokes, beer, wine, rum & coke and vodka and cranberry. There will be cheesecake and various pies and cakes for desert! Don 't miss this one as this is going to be a fun afternoon of good food and friendship in a beautiful setting. As always, ARF appreciates your support. Indoors areas to escape rain.
  14. I manage to get red, white and yellow onions at my green grocer any day of the week. What I cannot find often are radishes.
  15. ARF had their first "CASH Prize BINGO" at La Villa on June 23rd and it was very successful. Lucy did a great job setting up the hex and she not only had to make a beer run, she sold out of goodies! Good for her and ARF. Thanks BCP and La Villa, I am sure our next bi-monthly bingo on August 18th will be even better!
  16. Bags of CASH? Honest transactions do not usually require cash bribes. Why isn't the populace boycotting Super 99? Not being here during that time I am not familiar with the whole story.
  17. Can I skip the pensionado and go straight to the ECedula? It seems so much cheaper! LOL
  18. Bonnie, Would you care to name the lawyer that is charging so little for your E Cedula please? I have heard that the process for pensionado is over $1,000 per person.
  19. There is a place on ning's main page where a donation can be made for a "suggested" amount of $100. What is this all about?
  20. Also, on line banks offer accounts with zero fees. I bank with USAA and the only fees I know of are overdraft charges. They also refund up to $15 per month in ATM charges because they do not have their own ATMs.
  21. Canada and the US (particularly after the 2008 crash) now have laws forbidding unnecessary fees. Governments need to step up and regulate the money grab.
  22. There are snuggy coats you can get for dogs that offer security when wrapped around there torso's. They close with velcro and are made of a comfortable material. It doesn't hurt the dog, just provides a little extra security.
  23. until

Being held at Cora's beautiful home & gardens. Pool area bar and library are indoors so nobody gets wet! Two large BBQ's for those men who are fond of building fires (you know who you are). Lots of parking. So volunteer to bring your best dish and prove to the women of Boquete that you are a man who cooks!
