  1. Let me explain why I do not post the content from my blog on other sites that I post on. Too often, the Embassy sends out a message that they later change. I do not want the responsibility of having to go to those pages and making changes.

If the Embassy does make a change, which has happened to me several times, I merely correct the post on my blog.

If people do no want to see these ACS announcements as URLs then can sign up with STEP and receive 90% of the messages the Embassy sends me.

  2. Now, that I feel certain I have no idea who Ambreen is, I can say with no reservations, that this individual being chosen as the administrator got B-Ning, was one of Bob Hunter's best decisions. Way to go Bob! Excellent choice.

Placing control in a person, with so much worldly knowledge and mastery of the English language, speaks volumes. I feel confident with a few more wise choices on your part, you will have Ning right where you want it.

Never doubted you for a minute..

  3. A lot has happened since I wrote this post in 2009. If you are interested in a little history of the importance of today in Panama, here is a post from the past.

Here is the comment I left today on the post.

This post is an old post. A lot has changed since 2009, when I wrote it. I do have a copy of "The Path Between the Seas". It is a fantastic book and everyone that is interested in Panama should read it.

I have as much love and admiration for the country and its people now as I ever had. Every day that I get up I still wonder what new adventure lies in front of me.

November is a month of celebrations, parades and remembrances of a historical past. Viva Panama.

It has been six years since I posted this piece on Panama's Flag Day. I hope to be around in six more years sharing friendships (old and new) with all Panamanians and Panama residents in this month's festivities.

  4. This indicates the immaturity of Ambreen. Of course she is just an individual who is employed by JLM to front as a moderator. Anyone moderating a Boquete Forum should live here and have some sense when are accurate statement made about the area and when ridiculous statements are made.

Anyone who has lived here less than 8 months hasn’t had the time to understand all the nuances of the different factions.

In a forum, there has to be honest discussion, which should only be moderated to prevent trolls. Sometimes a moderator needs to invite participants to take it off line. However, banning people with, which the moderator disagrees should, not exist.

I think a lot of good comes between honest discussion with multiple posts of view. Often one’s thinking can change if presented with facts not previously considered. The new NING wants no discussion that may present a negative picture of Boquete or Panama.

I have no idea what the motivation of JLM is. Obviously they want to make money, but anyone with much sense would recognize that Lee didn’t make a lot of money on NING. It more than covered his expense, but he wasn’t getting rich, from what I see. He did it because he loved the area and wanted an uncensored forum.

    That has died with Lee.

When the dust settles, my suspicion is that JLM has some foundation in real estate development, real estate sales, or some tourism based business, which depends on attracting people from other countries to Panama.

What other reason would you want to stop honest discussions? That was the main value of NING.

That’s my thoughts. I am interested in other’s thoughts.

  5. COPA is a much better choice if you have connections in Tocumen. If you have business in the city, then the $30 taxi fee has to be take into consideration. Also, it is wise to have a known person pick you up. Many taxi's have had their passengers robbed. Sometimes it was persons who had filed out forms on the plane stating how much money they were bring into Panama.
