  1. I've been working the Chiriqui Storage booth at the feria in David for the past 3 days. Luckily, most of the business booths are in air-conditioned buildings. I will swear to you that every other booth is a residential development sales booth. Add in all the booths for the banks and you've got 95% of the booths classified. I will also swear to you that every single person in David attends the fair -- many of them multiple times.

They say it's the best time to negotiate a good price on a new car. I know it's a good time to get some nice patio furniture at good prices. And Bonnie is correct -- about 100 booths selling beer.

By the way, the annual Cablegada is today (Monday) and Avenida F Sur ("old McDonald's Road") will be closed. Then the  president is coming to David to inaugurate the new Kenny Serracin stadium on Thursday. Who was Enrique "Kenny" Serracin anyway?

  2. deal.png.19096b939e8e0514767616cce73c9fc8.pngHere's the bottom line. If you sign up or renew your one year BCP membership for $10 at the next Tuesday market you will receive for your money:

    1. The undying gratitude of the BCP family for supporting this wonderful community resource.

    2. A free party on January 12 with:

          -- Free rum punch

         -- Free finger food

-- Free entertainment by Tom & Yella

-- A free raffle ticket with a chance to win a $400 bottle of Panama Red's best rum

Even if you wait until after the new year and pay $15 for a year's membership, the perks of this party will be more than worth it.

  3. Everybody should witness this event at least once. We would always stake out a place near the end of the parade route. By that time most of the riders and some of the horses were drunk. There are beautiful horses in Panama -- high steppers which I think they call paso finos.

  4. We are hopeful that this time something will be done. Because BCP had belongings in the cafe and because other people had items for sale on consignment in the cafe, we are all trying to file a number of denuncias or complaints against the culprit. We have him on video in the BCP facility at 1:10 AM Wednesday morning.

BCP, being a foundation has to file the denuncia through the founder, Dave Ross, who is currently home-bound with a stroke.

We're going to figure this out and get the guy in jail.

  5. This is an amazing project. I've been talking with Robert and Jeff and they are so dedicated to this labor of love. They are building a 4 story "castle" made from 40,000 bottles. You and your guests can stay in the castle next time you're in Bocas. Come by to the BCP theater today at 10:30 to learn more.

The video is wonderful -- spend 6 minutes watching it:

  6. BCP has two paid attendants in the parking lot. However, they have a hard time dealing with an individual who abandons his vehicle in the exit and chases the person he was angry with into the facility. Altogether, BCP pays 4 people to manage the parking lot and the market. Maybe charging a dollar to enter the lot is a good idea.
