I’m sorry, Linda. I completely forgot about ACCBoquete and Joe. I will add him to my recommendations, but he may also want to ask to sit in on the meeting with the police. I’m sure the Boquete police would welcome him, and I doubt that the Embassy folks would object if it met with local police approval.

I would add that the trading of information and experiences between law enforcement agencies is a good idea, in my opinion. I'm just wondering whether police from NYC will have the requisite understanding of Boquete crime to address the subject meaningfully. I suggested that they make a point of visiting beforehand with Rodny and/or with former leaders of AAC for an understanding of the situation here, which, I'm confident, is vastly different from that in NYC. I have received no response to that recommendation.

It's my understanding that the NYC policemen will be meeting with the local police the day before the presentation for citizens. But all questions are legitimate, in my opinion. I'm just the messenger here.

That's fantastic, Chris. Thank you so much for replying.

Is there live music every night or only on select nights? At what time does the music begin?
When I go out to dine with friends, I find that it's difficult to talk over loud music--particularly since most of us are getting up there and our hearing is far from perfect. I want to be able to plan my visits on nights or times when the restaurant is music-free.
Incidentally, I have dined at Boulder 54 twice and found meals to be exceptionally good. Exceptional service, too.

Timely warning, Keith. As is my practice, I wasn't driving the day I had too many beers at the David Fair.

if you go, wear as few clothes as decency permits. I’ve been once, and it was hotter than four hells. There were some interesting aspects, but I was too hot to appreciate them. I do recall that there was plenty of cold beer, though, and that I drank far too many to ward off a heat stroke. ?

Ha ha. But then it should be "humengous" or "humendous." (But I still wouldn't have recognized it for what you say it is.)
-
Humundous? Don't know the word.
-
Not that it's very meaningful, but what is the announced starting time?

Bonnie reported that in spite of a lot of work and contributions of food they prepared, along with gifts and prizes the event was poorly attended. Javier and Magaly need our help in order to provide a decent enclosure for sometimes 33 or more dogs they care for that are rescued. They nurse the dogs back to health and do some training to help insure the dogs will be good pets. They do all this certainly not to get rich nor to save up $ for a vacation on the Riviera. Please please give just a little bit to help them. It's not just the money, but to know you are appreciated goes a long way to keep them encouraged.

A minor correction: the event was not "poorly" attended. It was "modestly" attended. I would guess there were between 40 and 60 people, but I didn't count. There were several empty tables and even more empty chairs. Nonetheless, with Nairn and Nancy's generous contribution, Javier and Magaly took home some money. For those of you who support their work but were unable to attend the event because of personal commitments, Alison offers a sound suggestion: utilize their GoFundMe site to help out.

I know this is an expensive outing, but if you're in the mood to treat yourself, it's a lovely venue and excellent food. I've been to the Sunday brunch a couple of times after stressful weeks and left totally refreshed. They DO honor the jubilado discount, which makes the cost a lot better.

What about Tom and Yella? Chris's ad for them says August 25th 5:00 - 8:00, which overlaps with your performance. If his ad is incorrect, he needs to change it.
-
The ad says 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on August 25th. And Yella and Tom's ad, posted by Chris, says 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on August 25th. There appears to be some confusion on someone's part.

Thanks. Sounds great!

Where will this be held? What will be served besides pancakes?

Great idea!

I love Indian food and recognize everything here except Khate Channe. Internet research yielded nothing. Anyone know what it is? Hanna?

There are two separate postings or forums. One has a map showing the event in Alabama, and the map on the other shows it as being in Pennsylvania.

Looking at either map, this has nothing whatsoever to do with Boquete or Chiriqui.
Farewell to Ken & Becky Campeau

Ken and Becky are simply two of the most outstanding volunteers Boquete has ever had. They are involved in so many charitable organizations and always can be counted on to do whatever is necessary. I had the pleasure of working closely with them when Bid 4 Boquete was around and always considered them among the best and most reliable. I wish them well. But Boquete is going to much the poorer for their leaving. I'll be there!
