DEEP FLOW YOGA
THURSDAY 8 AM
SATURDAY 9:30 AM
Vinyasa means breath to movement and is often referred to as a “flow style” of yoga. The Vinyasa practice becomes a moving meditation linking each posture together with a fluid breath flow. It is a practice that creates strength, flexibility and unity within the mind and body.
Deep Flow Yoga a is a form of vinyasa that is challenging and powerful. Poses are held longer than traditional vinyasa to help build stronger muscles. If you are looking to challenge yourself while building strength and endurance, power yoga is a good fit for you.

GENTLE YOGA
MONDAY thru FRIDAY 9:30 - 10:30 AM
5-Days a Week! A Gentle Yoga class that encourages breath & body-awareness, as we blend traditional poses with conscious movement. Great for beginners, or those who prefer a more relaxed, mindful style. Options are given and requests are encouraged.
Each class is tailored to the group's needs. This is done in the spirit of yoga as a healing practice, where asanas (poses) are given for various conditions (ie, back pain, tight shoulders, etc.) Yoga works in subtle and profound ways. The more you listen your body’s needs... and the more supportive and deep your practice will become. Results include increased strength, flexibility, balance, & enhanced overall well being.
Overall, the goal is simple: To Feel Good!  Strengthen, stretch, and smile your way into the day.

Centering: Focusing on the core as the center of strength.
Flow: Promoting smooth, flowing movements.
Precision: Ensuring that each movement is done with accuracy to achieve optimal results.

GUIDED MEDITATION (Yoga Nidra)
MONDAY &  FRIDAY
10:45 - 11:30 AM (45 min)
You are encouraged to bring a pillow and/or blanket, or whatever will bring the most comfort, as you will laying on the floor for the duration of the practice.
Come experience the style of Guided Meditation called "YOGA NIDRA."  Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. The term Yoga Nidra is derived from two Sanskrit words: yoga meaning union or one-pointed awareness, and nidra which means sleep. During the practice of Yoga Nidra, one appears to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. In this threshold state between sleep and wake-fulness, contact with the subconscious and unconscious dimensions occurs spontaneously.
If the consciousness is able to be separated from external awareness and from sleep, it becomes very powerful and can be applied in many ways, for example, to develop the memory, increase knowledge and creativity, or transform one's nature. Yoga Nidra can be used for directing the mind to accomplish anything!
R - E - L - A - X
Yoga Nidra is a powerful form of guided meditation in which one learns to relax consciously. People may feel that they are relaxing when they collapse in an easy chair with their favorite drink, watch Netflix, and/or scroll through their cell phone.  Yet this will never suffice as a scientific definition of relaxation. These are only sensory diversions. True relaxation is actually an experience far beyond all this. For absolute relaxation you must remain aware. This is Yoga Nidra, the state of dynamic sleep.
Through the practice of yoga nidra, we are not only relaxing, but restructuring and reforming from the inside- out. With every session we are burning old patterns, habits and tendencies in order to be born anew. This process is not only much quicker than other systems which work on an external basis only, but the results are also more reliable and permanent.
During Yoga Nidra you will become familiar with the variety of techniques that are used, including the following:
CREATING A RESOLVE
This is a short, positive, powerful statement of one's personal choosing. It is found by going into the heart, and discovering the heart's desire.  This is an integral part of every practice, and is repeated at both the beginning and the end of the session.  It is said that the resolve that one makes during Yoga Nidra is bound to come true in one's life.
ROTATION OF CONSCIOUSNESS
This is the progressive movement of awareness through parts of the body.  The neurosurgeon affects the body by stimulating the brain. The practitioner of Yoga Nidra begins at the other end of the nerve pathway, by heightening the awareness of the body in order to stimulate the brain.
This induces physical relaxation, and clears the nerve pathways to the brain, both those governing physical activity and those concerned with incoming information.  It truly is a 'cleaning' of the brain from the inside-out!
BREATH AWARENESS
By practicing breath awareness, a state of sense withdrawal (pratyahara) and deep relaxation occur.  Deep relaxation has been shown to be an altered state of perception. Once this state has been induced, the guided image visualization proceeds.
VISUALIZATION
Guided imagery in Yoga Nidra is a method of using a symbol (archetype) or image as a catalyst to provoke a reaction in the unconscious parts of the mind. The subconscious and unconscious material of the mind is awakened and released to become integrated into consciousness.

LEARN A TAKE-AWAY PRACTICE TO "SHAKE OFF" THE ONGOING STRESSES OF LIFE.
TRE: TENSION & TRAUMA RELEASING EXERCISES   Feb 4th, Sunday 1-3 pm (includes a FREE follow-up class, Feb 8th, Thurs 2-3 pm)   at THE STUDIO at The Haven Wellness Resort & Spa, located in Bajo Boquete Instructor: Joy Alexander $45 (price includes workshop & follow-up class)   WHAT IS TRE? TRE® is an innovative series of exercises that help the body to release deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, TRE safely triggers a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, and calms down the nervous system. When the 'tremor mechanism' is activated in a secure and controlled environment, the body is motivated to return back to a state of balance.   TRE is a somatic body-based practice especially effective for people suffering with stress, anxiety, trauma or PTSD.  It doesn't require talking about an event, feeling or issue, therefore it overcomes the language barriers that can bring up added stress.   TRE is based on the findings that stress, tension and trauma are both psychological and physical. The reflexive muscle vibrations in TRE are known to feel pleasant and soothing. After doing TRE, the majority of people report feeling peaceful with a sense of well-being.   IN THIS WORKSHOP:   • You will learn about neurogenic tremors -- our body's natural inbuilt recovery system.   • What TRE is, why it was developed, and how it works.   • TRE’s set of seven safe, simple tension & trauma releasing exercises that are designed to trigger the body’s ‘tremor mechanism’    • You will have an experience of activating the neurogenic tremor in a supportive group environment.    • You will leave with a self-help tool that you can use to regulate your own nervous system -- as needed!   IN THE FOLLOW-UP CLASS: This class will be a review and practice of the TRE exercises... with another opportunity to experience the 'tremor mechanism'. We will also discuss 'next steps' for those who want to continue with self-lead or guided sessions.    About Joy Alexander Joy is the Head of The Studio's Yoga Program at The Haven Wellness Resort & Spa, and is passionate about what she does! She has been teaching yoga & meditation classes throughout the Boquete community since 2014.   Joy's interest is the body-mind connection, especially how it relates to patterns of tension / trauma held within our physical structure. She helps guide others through combinations of awareness, movement, stillness, and breath to safely facilitate innate healing, clear the body's energetic pathways, and balance the nervous system.   Born into a 'yoga family', Joy grew up practicing both yoga and meditation from an early age. (Her mother opened one of the earliest yoga studios in Southeastern Massachusetts.) She continued her studies in yoga... exploring a variety styles such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Kripalu and Bikram Yoga. However, it wasn’t until 2010 that she found and fell in love with the discipline of Ashtanga, deepening her practice even more. Now a registered yoga instructor (500 hr Yoga Alliance certification), she is realizing her dream in Boquete, Panama.   Along with Yoga Certifications and an intensive 750 hour massage education, Joy has extensive training in energy work and bodywork modalities including 120 hrs of Polarity Therapy, and Lomi Lomi Certification Levels 1 &2. Most recently, Joy completed a TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercise) Certification in 2022. TAI-CHI & QI-GONG
TUESDAY  12:30 PM The class consists of two parts;

Form (Tai-chi)
This is a flowing sequence of movements, lasting from 5 to 20 minutes. The Form very effectively develops physical skill and health and constitutes a very enjoyable kind of moving meditation. Each movement can be practised at increasing levels of depth as the student develops. Students learn the Beijing 24-Step Short Form. This highly enjoyable form is the basis of the beginners’ course, providing a strong foundation.

Qi-gong
Qigong is the foundation of Tai Chi, wherein the student learns to move their body and feel their internal energy (Qi), through simple, relatively static movements, and the use of the will (Yi) to guide the energy as it flows through its natural channels (known as Jing Luo, or meridians).
Students learn a variety of easy but highly effective Qigong exercises, primarily from the famous Eight Pieces of Silk Brocade sequence and 28-Step Qigong set, as well as Standing Stake meditation.   Instructor: Mounir Afkir
