Learn how to take your body from stress to relaxation with gentle exercises for improved health and a happier life... in this practical 90-minute workshop!
Aim of the workshop: • Choose from the vagal toning and somatic exercises to build a daily routine to strengthen your nervous system and make you more resilient to stress and anxiety.
• This is your fire-drill! Practice a routine everyday so that when stress and anxiety happen, your system won’t get as activated.
Intro (15 minutes) • What is stress • What makes some people more reliant than others? • Nervous system states – Rest > Stress > Overwhelm • Neuroception - What’s going on automatically in your body all the time without you knowing
Exercises (30 minutes) 1. Feel into your body • NS at rest (connecting into the language of the NS which is feeling sensations) • Deep belly breathing • NS activation – low impact movements to speed up the heart rate. Notice how it feels. • Keep checking in with sensations in the body – this can be difficult if youre not used to it (we cut off from our bodies in early life)
2. Exercises standing up • Pillow slam • Shaking/ heel slam (rebounding without tramp) • Body tapping
3. Exercises lying down • Foot rocking • Knees up with emdr
Meditation (10 minutes) • Body based sensations • Heart anchor/smile
