Monday, March 25: Volcan. This field trip investigates the structure and history of Volcan Baru with special emphasis on its caldera northeast of the city of Volcan. This trip requires vehicles that can safely negotiate poor roads.
Monday, April 1: Gualaca and Caldera.
The older terrain east of Volcan Baru is the focus of this trip. In this terrain igneous activity is related to the intrusion of magma along old faults.
